National Show Horses
Medicine River Horse Farm is home to a line of National Show Horses that are very versatile, great-minded, and big-hearted.  The line originated from a man in Manchester, Iowa who bred Arabians and Saddlebreds together before the breed had a name.  When we discovered these horses we immediately knew they were for us.  They were full of life, elegant, and athletic.  Everything necessary for the disciplines we enjoy.

In 1992, we purchased
Mr. Beau Jangles and My Little Princess.  We raised and trained them ourselves and they are two of the best horses we have owned.  In 2000, we purchased Manny and Beauty.  These horses caught our eye on our first visit to Manchester, but they were this man's pride and joy until his death.  His family knew we had liked these horses and offered them to us.  We accepted and faced the greatest challenge of our lives.  Manny and Beauty had never been ridden and they were 10 and 12 years old when we bought them.  We worked with them slowly and consistently for a year and by the time we donated them to the Kirkwood Community College Horse Science program they were enjoying being ridden and loved being handled.

Beau, Princess, Manny and Beauty were all sired by the Arabian, Chief Mariystic.  The dams were Saddlebreds and each horse was out of a different mare.

We are currently working with the gentleman's family to produce top quality sporthorses.  We are crossing our Thoroughbred stallion,
El Corazon and our Lipizzan stallion, Neapolitano Juwela, with their National Show Horses in order to produce horses suitable for dressage and eventing.  These crosses should make talented dressage and jumping horses.
